CLASSES & RATES

We have added a PRE Teenage Angst (puppy) class. Saturdays.

For age 12 - 22 weeks.

Class will be geared to age of pups. Take advantage of your little knowledge sponge, so easy to train before teenage rebellion strikes.

You will soon be waving goodbye to your lovely angel puppy as we prepare for the hormonal wave which will wash over your pup around 6-7 months. As the window of socialization closes learn the value of patience during this transition! A vocational, real world, education opposed to “obedience” which can be accomplished later when your pup is more mature. We have added a retired Veterinary Technician to assist teaching your puppy to be handled gently, just like at the Veterinarians! Indoor and outdoor classes.

It is important your puppy starts socializing with you and the world at 8 weeks, contact us, join a rolling class or let us help with private or in home training(additional travel fee). All puppies MUST have been seen by a Veterinarian and have proof of one first vaccination and worming.

Fill out the Teenage Angst form/waiver ( go to link “Start Now” below)

5 sessions $125 (Payment is to be made in full before or at the first class, sorry we cannot take cards for payment)

Questions about Socialization ? Discuss the current scientific literature and work out a medically safe but early socialization plan with your Veterinarian and a private trainer or puppy class instructor.

Best teen, young adolescent, teenager dog, older puppy class in Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend.

Teenage Angst

Do you have a dog that chews your favorite shoes, jumps on people, ignores you around distractions, or randomly launches into a dramatic tantrum? Dogs between 6 months and 2 years old are canine adolescents (3yrs for some breeds!), and these teenage years are fraught with new and challenging behaviors. Taming your teen drama king or queen takes patience, consistency, and persistence. We will use positive training, games, obedience exercises, and simple management to prevent annoying teenage dog behaviors from becoming life-long bad habits.

  • Class size is small (2-4 students) to keep the atmosphere fun, encouraging, and personal. No class is alike. Class is geared towards the needs of the students. Class is held in a safe, indoor or outdoor, clean environment with minimal distractions. Handouts and videos are provided.

  • All dogs must be at least 5 months old

  • All dogs must be people and dog friendly ( some dogs need private sessions before starting class to be successful)

  • All dogs must be current on distemper, parvo, and rabies vaccinations (bring proof to first class)

  • Not appropriate for dogs that bark, lunge, or are disruptive in a group environment. These pups need one on one to start, contact us.

( Dogs with human concerns or reactivity my be better suited to private sessions.)

What happens in class? Each dog/teamof vaccinations to searches independently while the other dogs wait patiently in the car. Scent puzzles are presented systematically to enhance learning. Attendence is necessary. If you want to compete the process takes a year to scratch the surface of competency. Like all sports practice and time make an awesome team. Many students don’t compete they just enjoy watching their dogs have fun.
